Dance is a way of life, a way of communication, a timeline for history, and so much more. Dance lives and moves within every individual. I believe that dance is more than just a presentational art form set for the screen or theatre. In our world today, there needs to be more love, compassion, acceptance, and respect and I believe dance is a means of communicating that. I know my body and myself as an individual more than I know anything else in this world. My body is sacred, my mentality keeps me striving for more, the lifestyle I live provides me happiness each and every day and dance is a way I can explore each of those ideals. Dance allows one to open their mind and discover new ideas, new viewpoints, and ways of looking at the world. Dance is a place for struggle, investigation, release, desire and gives the opportunity to ask the question "Why?". 

 

My current work investigates the process behind the dance. I am curious on how the dancer learns, how they interpret movement, and how they create my aesthetic their own. The choreographer and the dance are tied hand-in-hand but at what point does the dancer bridge the gap between work and choreographer? When does the dancer take the art and morph the work to become their own? How much freedom does the dancer have when presenting a work? That gap, that bridge; that is where my curiosity lies.
